Sustainable Yard and Garden Consultations

Surround yourself in beauty, cut out the chemicals, and turn your piece of Earth into a haven for songbirds, butterflies and other beneficial bugs. That’s the goal, and it’s totally achievable.

Transforming your property into a more ecologically diverse, healthy landscape is a worthy goal with a way bigger than improving your lifestyle. To achieve the level of change needed to combat climate change and extinction, suburban and urban property owners must come together to restore ecosystems in their own yards to create more connected habitats.

We make sustainable gardening accessible — easy to get excited about, to understand, and to afford. This consultation is a great first step to making a real change without a big investment.

We’ll study your space and deliver a roadmap to a greener yard and garden, in every sense of the word.

Some Words From Our Clients

“I feel like my heart is going to explode. The report makes me so happy, words aren’t enough. It was incredibly thorough, and gives me the confidence and understanding to make short and long-term decisions about what to plant in each part of my yard. And better still, it had so much great info about how to make my whole property more eco-friendly.”

– Allison N., Haddon Township

How It Works:

1. We’ll visit your property to observe and discuss:

  • Current conditions, such as light and soil in different parts of your property
  • Existing garden beds, plant species, and layouts
  • Any issues such as the prevalence of invasive species or pooling water
  • Your goals for your yard
  • Garden styles that make you happy (formal, wild, etc.)

2.  We’ll create a thorough, personalized Sustainable Yard Report with a roadmap.

3.  Within two weeks, we’ll deliver a detailed report that will serve as an owner’s manual for your sustainable yard.

Your Report Will Include:Ecological Landscape Consultation

An Intro to Eco-Friendly Yard and Gardens

Every report includes our Principles of Ecological Landscaping, which you can think of as a Cliff’s Notes on all of the best resources and information out there. (We’ll include resources for further reading too.)

Yard Diagram

A diagram of your property, broken up into separate planting zones based on variations in growing conditions, such as light and soil.

Personalized Recommendations

Suggested plant combinations for targeted areas in your yard (like existing or planned beds), taking into account color, bloom time, as well as which plants thrive when planted together. (Yes, that’s a thing!)

Plant List

A list of easy-to-grow, wildlife-friendly native plants for each planting zone. The list includes information about the plants’ light and soil needs, bloom color, and bloom time.

Sustainable Yard Management Guide

This section goes beyond the core principles and gets specific about what you should do (and not do) to have a beautiful sustainable yard. It includes tips, tricks, and techniques for garden design, proper planting techniques, basic garden maintenance, and sustainable lawn care.

This report is not a fully realized landscape design.  Rather it’s a blueprint for a homeowner to make informed decisions about what to plant in which parts of their yard and how to steward their small piece of our ecosystem sustainably.

Pricing is based on the size of your yard.

  • 0.1 Acres or Less: $250
